Six Hopes for Society

Six Hopes for Society
Dear Daily Devotion

I hope you’ve enjoyed our series of reflections about Edgy Saints; I’ve had lots of positive feedback as we’ve journeyed with folk we’ve often never heard of and have been stimulated to think by our team of writers – so thanks to Jack Dyce, Elizabeth Stuart, Dave Herbert and John McNeil Scott who crafted some lovely reflections on some interesting people (and a dog).

I’m grateful to the Joint Public Issues Team (JPIT) and their interns for our next series which starts tomorrow.  JPIT is formed of the United Reformed Church, the Baptist Union, and the Methodist Church working together for peace and justice. You can find out more at

JPIT has six hopes for society:

Hope for a:

  • just economy that enables the flourishing of all life
  • society where the poorest and most marginalised are at the centre
  • world where the planet is renewed
  • politics characterised by listening, kindness and truthfulness
  • world that actively works for peace
  • society that welcomes the stranger
These 6 hopes drive much of the work of equipping the Church for social witness and political engagement. Over the next two weeks, members of JPIT will reflect on those hopes through scripture, reflection, and encouragement.

I hope these reflections inspire you in your justice-seeking.

With every good wish

The Rev’d Andy Braunston
Minister for Digital Worship
