Upcoming Christmas Services

Dear Friends,

We have had the final Sunday in advent, Christmas is nearly upon us. I thought now would be the best opportunity to indulge you in the festive services we have coming up from the URC Daily Devotions team:

Wednesday 22nd December – will be a traditional Lessons and Carols led by the Revd. Branwen Rees. Branwen is a minister in South Wales, and offers us, during this service, some fantastic, thought-provoking reflections on the ‘same old’ readings we hear so regularly. This service will be in your inboxes at 7pm.

Friday 24th December, Christmas Eve – we will gather for worship for a ‘midnight communion’ led by the Revd. Simon Walkling, Simon is currently serving as Moderator of the National Synod of Wales. At Daily Devotions HQ, we have the advantage of knowing EXACTLY how long the pre-recorded service will last. So it will be sent out at 11:30pm and will definitely finish on Christmas Day – promise! As this service includes Holy Communion, please have with you, if you wish to partake, bread and wine or suitable alternatives.

Saturday 25th December, Christmas Day – Our Christmas Day service will be led by the Revd. Susan Henderson. Susan is serving as minister with the Inverclyde Cluster, three United Reformed Churches of Greenock East, Greenock West and Port Glasgow. The service will be released at 9:45am.

Sunday 26th December, Boxing Day (the Feast of Stephen) – We’re one year away from that odd feeling of Christmas Day on a Sunday (but make the most of it, as it won’t happen after next year for another 11 years!), but in the meantime, you can be blessed with 3 services in 3 days! The Revd. James Church, minister in the West Midlands Synod, will lead our worship.

In these emails, I normally grace you with some sneak peaks of what we will be singing. Folks, it’s Christmas, expect carols… but don’t always expect bog standard performances of them, there are some truly remarkable renditions to tickle your tastebuds.

It’s at this point I take delight in wishing you a blessed Christmas,

with every blessing,

Dan Morrell

If you have a problem…

Sometimes the Daily Devotions emails go astray.  As we send out over 4,000 a day some internet service providers label them as Spam or Junk.  If an email doesn’t arrive check your Spam/Junk Folder in the first instance.  If the email is there then add this email address to your contacts and, if you have one, a Safe Senders’ List.  If you google your email programme and the words “safe senders list” you should find out how to do it.

If, however, the email isn’t in your Spam/Junk folder please go to devotions.urc.org.uk and read it there.

Finally, a reminder if you need to change your email address please use the link, below, “update your preferences”.
